Are You Holding On To Things That No Longer Serve You?

Sometimes we get stuck because we're waiting for something to change after we've spent so much time and/or energy on it.
Sunk cost bias is our tendency to continue investing in a losing proposition because of what it's already cost us.
We stay in the job we hate because we're waiting for the promotion.
We stay in the relationship that isn't giving us what we need because we're waiting for the other person to change.
We keep reading that book or watching that movie even though it's terrible (Hellboy 2 deserves a special mention here)
None of us want to admit that we wasted money, energy or years of our lives on something that didn't work out, so we keep digging the hole deeper. The question I've started asking myself is 'at what cost'? What am I giving up by not making a different choice?
I've gotten better over the years and made big decisions on career, health and relationships. It doesn't mean the initial decision was wrong. It just means I try to find the lesson learnt and apply it to the next decision.
My current challenge is Brazilian shoes that I've been staring at in my closet (I wish I could say it's just one pair, but I may or may not have had a shoe shopping problem at some point in my life). I bought them a few years ago when I was over there and, to this day, I've never worn them. Yes. I know. It really is time to give them up. I'm getting there.
Where do you feel like you've been fighting a losing battle for a while? Is it worth considering calling it quits?
