Everything You Want is on the Other Side of Fear and Discomfort

I've been leaning into the discomfort a lot more recently (well, more like leaping in and praying, but let's go with leaning in for now).
I'm writing this as my cheesecake is cooling.
At some point, baking was unheard of for me, but I've now embraced it (I am, after all, my mother's daughter. For a while I thought the skill skipped me). Apparently not everyone does a good baked cheesecake, so I'm patting myself on the back.
My point is that things that were once unfamiliar become habits and we really do get good at them. It starts with leaning in to the discomfort though, and being prepared to fail.
Back to my recent endeavours...
1. Great Girls is kicking off. I'm vaguely terrified because, apart from having been one myself a long (long) time ago, I know almost zero about teenage girls.
Add in the fact that they have some challenging things in their home lives and the fact that their environment isn't the most supportive, and I have my work cut out for me.
I'm forging ahead though, because I know I can make a difference in someone's life and because I know I'll grow through this experience as well. My plan is to ask for lots of help, starting with taking notes from people who speak teenage girl. This is not a skill I predicted I would need at this point in my life, but here we are. Challenge accepted.
2. In the theme of wanting to make a difference, I'm going big and I've been accepted into the Veblen Director Programme.
As much as I love coaching, I've been missing my business and corporate brain, so this feels like the right next step for me.
The fantastic thing about this new career and life I'm building is that I get to do coaching plus all these other things. It's going to be hard work and I'm going to challenge myself in a way I haven't in years, so I was slightly (ok, very) uncomfortable going into it. Thankfully my training has kicked in and I'm now really excited about it .
I'm doing things I never thought I would and I'm loving it.
You can too.
It's only fear and discomfort that you need to navigate. You've done harder things.
You've totally got this.
