Growth Through Service: Why Helping Others Rise Fuels My Journey to the Boardroom

Coaching others taught me a lot - mostly that personal growth doesn’t care about your five-year plan.

Over the years, mentoring future leaders and coaching high performers has been one of my greatest teachers. I've come to the (profound) realisation that the fastest way to grow is to help others rise.

When I started Glimmer, my focus was clear - empower individuals to unlock their potential and step confidently into their power. What I didn’t fully realise then was how much this would shape my own growth journey. Each conversation, each breakthrough, each moment of clarity I witness in those I coach is a reflection of my own growth.

This is why I’m stepping into the boardroom with the Veblen Director Programme - not just to advance my own career, but to serve at a higher level.

I strongly believe that boards need leaders who understand the power of empathy, inclusion, and purpose-driven decision-making. Leaders who know that success isn’t just about numbers on a balance sheet, but about nurturing talent, championing diversity, and creating lasting impact.

Mentoring and coaching have shown me that leadership is not a solo journey. It’s a collective ascent. When we help others rise, we build stronger teams, more resilient organisations, and a future that’s brighter for everyone.
